supply operations is a vocationally related qualification. It is recognised by the Office of Qualifications and
Examinations Regulator (Ofqual), CCEA and Qualifications Wales in the UK and appears on the Register of
Regulated Qualifications.

Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations

The Level 3 Advanced certificate is designed for those who are within an operational role and will provide the
knowledge, skills and understanding in order to carry out procurement and supply tasks. The learner will
develop the knowledge to understand demand management, arrange supply logistics and implement new contracts.

This qualification is designed for those working within the following typical job titles; Administrator, Assistant
buyer, Assistant contract officer, Contract analyst, Stock / inventory controller / planner. There are no age
restrictions in relation to this qualification.

This qualification has been designed in conjunction with employers, study centres, higher education
institutions and other key professionals and stakeholders to ensure it is relevant to current working practices
within the procurement and supply sector. In addition, the content of the qualification is based on the CIPS
Global Standard for Procurement and Supply – a comprehensive competency framework to enhance an
individual’s procurement performance leading to excellent organisational performance.

Both the global standard and qualification are kept under regular review and updated when necessary to
ensure relevance is maintained.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification and therefore, the learner is not required to have any
prior professional qualifications or experience. However, if a learner has the CIPS Certificate qualification,
then this qualification will build on the learner’s current knowledge and understanding. Some unit
exemptions or a bypass may be applicable under the CIPS Exemption policy.

Examinations

CIPS examinations for qualifications units are hand written and paper-based.
The following principles are adhered to when CIPS exam papers are developed:
• The unit content will be assessed through the use of the learning outcomes (LOs), and parts thereof, published within the unit content guides. All LOs will be assessed within every assessment.
• All LOs within a unit are weighted equally. The coverage of each LO within an assessment is equally weighted.
• All questions within an assessment are compulsory. There are no optional questions. All assessments are marked out of 100%.
• The standard of the assessment is set by the LOs within the unit content.

60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Select one correct answer from four options. There will be 20 MCQs testing each learning outcome. Pass mark 75%.
AC2
Operations
60 MCQs. Select one correct answer from four options. There will be 20 MCQs testing each learning outcome.  Pass mark 75%.
AC3
Workflow
Practical written exam with four exam questions each worth 25 marks, each testing a different learning outcome. The questions are designed to simulate tasks which might be undertaken in the work environment. Pass mark 50%.
AC4
Inventory and logistics
60 MCQs. Select one correct answer from four options. There will be 20 MCQs testing each learning outcome. Pass mark 75%.
AC5

60 MCQs. Select one correct answer from four options. There will be 20 MCQs testing each learning outcome. Pass mark 75%.

Examination pass marks (AC 1, 2, 4 and 5): 75%
You must achieve 75% for each section (learning outcome) within the exam in order to pass.
Examination pass marks (AC 3): 50%

• Distinction 75 – 100%
• Merit 60 – 74%
• Pass 50 – 59%
• Fail 0 – 49%
